Our process
From first visit to finished floor, here's exactly what to expect.
We visit the space, assess the subfloor, measure the area, discuss species and pattern options, and identify any subfloor issues that need to be addressed before installation begins. Accurate assessment before a board is ordered prevents the most common installation problems.
For standard plank: species, grade, width, finish type, and prefinished vs. site-finished. For parquet: pattern, species, block dimensions, and orientation. Lubbock-area customers can visit our showroom and walk through samples in person. For other locations, we bring samples to the consultation.
All hardwood flooring is delivered to the installation site and allowed to acclimate to the space's temperature and humidity before installation begins. Acclimation time varies by species, product thickness, and the conditions of the space. We don't rush this step.
The subfloor is assessed, leveled where needed, and prepared to the standard the installation requires. Squeaks are addressed. Moisture barriers are installed where required. High and low spots are corrected. This is the work that prevents the problems that show up later.
For standard plank: installation begins at the reference line established in the assessment, working across the floor in the specified direction.

For parquet: the pattern center is located, reference grid lines are established, and a dry-fit of the pattern is verified before any adhesive is applied. Parquet is almost always glue-down — the right adhesive for the species and substrate is selected, and installation proceeds with alignment verified at every step.
Unfinished hardwood is sanded using our 100% dust-contained system — dust evacuated to our truck before it becomes airborne — and finished with low-VOC, Greenguard-certified waterborne finish. Multiple coats with appropriate dry time between each. Stain is applied before finish if a color change is desired. Samples are shown and approved before stain is applied to the full floor.
We walk every square foot of the completed installation with you before we consider the job done. If anything doesn't meet the standard, we address it before we leave.
