Our process
From strip to finished floor — here's exactly to expect.
Commercial stripping solution is applied to the full floor surface and allowed to dwell — penetrating and dissolving the existing finish layers. The softened finish is mechanically agitated and removed, taking with it years of contamination, yellowing, and uneven buildup. The bare VCT tile is exposed.
The stripped surface is thoroughly neutralized and cleaned. Applying new finish over a surface with stripper residue causes adhesion failure — the new finish won't bond properly and will peel or discolor quickly. This step is what separates a proper strip-and-rewax from a rushed one.
The floor is allowed to fully dry before any finish is applied. Finish applied to a damp surface will whiten and fail.
Multiple thin, even coats of commercial floor finish are applied — typically three to five coats depending on the tile condition and the desired sheen level. Each coat is allowed to dry fully before the next is applied. Thin, even coats bond correctly and build a durable finish. Thick coats dry unevenly and peel.
We walk the completed floor with you before we leave. Finish should be uniform, glossy, and properly bonded across the full surface.
VCT strip-and-rewax requires the floor to be clear and dry for several hours during and after the process. We schedule around your operational calendar — school evenings and breaks, healthcare night shifts, retail after closing, commercial office weekends. We coordinate with your facilities team before scheduling and confirm access windows before the crew arrives.
