Stone Restoration Process
Carpet Tech’s stone restoration process involves the application of a cream or powder abrasive. We use a floor or hand machine to carefully exfoliate the surface of the stone and then, depending on the type of stone, we will repolish or rehone the surface.
This process can take anywhere between 3-7 days depending on the size and condition of your natural stone. We are also careful to examine and treat grout joints that are easily stained, dirty, cracked, or degraded. Lastly, we apply a hydrophobic sealant to help repel water spots and keep your stone surface looking like new.
Once your natural stone restoration is complete, it is important to care well for your floors or countertops to preserve both their beauty and integrity. Keep the surface clean with good stone soap. A proper sealer doesn’t coat or wax the stone, but it does help repel grease and oil. Beware, even sealed stone is susceptible to harsh chemicals that can etch or burn it.
